EuroPM2009 Links Industry to technology
Copenhagen played host for the 2009 Euro PM Congress & Exhibition organised and sponsored by the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA). The high quality technical programme that attracted in excess of 200 Oral and Poster presentations and over 500 participants including over 50 exhibiting companies from around the world. 'This year's turnout was better than we had anticipated given the economic climate' said Jonathan Wroe, EPMA Executive Director. During the Congress plenary session EPMA President Mr Ingo Cremer gave a 'Review of the PM Industry from a European Perspective'. The keynote plenary speakers were Dr Olle Grinder from Global PM Consultants who delivered an excellent paper on “Key Areas for Development in PM Technology”. He was followed by Andrew Fulbrook from CSM International who provided a very useful insight into the “Evolution of the European Powertrain – A Focus on PEV and PHEV”. The EPMA Distinguished Service Award for 2009 was presented by Ingo Cremer to Dr. Guenter Kneringer formerly of Plansee Group in Austria. The Euro PM2009 Congress Dinner was held at the "Admiral Hotel", which provided a relaxed atmosphere for discussions after a full day at the event. “Copenhagen has proved to be a delightful host city for our delegates” commented Jonathan Wroe who went on to add “We are already working on next year's World Congress PM2010 which will be held in Florence from 10-14th October.”
