Dot Matrix Printer Head

Application: This highly complex shape 24-pin print head is used in a high speed printer.

Composition: The print head is made from 3% silicon steel in order to achieve the desired soft magnetic properties.
These include a coercive magnetising force of Hc < 70 A/m and saturation induction of > 15 T. The MIM part, which weighs 54 g, must be completely burr free in order to maintain these magnetic properties as well as dimensional accuracy.

Description: The head is produced to a tolerance of 0.01 mm on the plane, with surface roughness of Ra 0.4 µm. MIM replaced a cast and machined part.
