Bold Innovations in the development of Sustainable Packaging Equipment
PAKIT™ is a leading designer, developer, manufacturer and supplier of cellulose fibre moulding equipment to the packaging industry.
Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada with engineering, research and development in Norrköping, Sweden, our team of highly skilled scientists and engineers continue to break new ground in the manipulation of natural fibres for packaging applications.
The techniques we develop maximize the inherent strengths and benefits of fibre, and PAKIT remains dedicated to our technology and to the philosophy of sustainability.
A Revolutionary Packaging Material
There is now a cost-effective and environmentally sensitive alternative to petroleum-based plastics. Moulded Board™ is a revolutionary new packaging medium that delivers technically superior performance at a lower cost than current industry leaders. Some of the industries able to take advantage of the benefits of Moulded Board are Protective Packaging, Foodservice, Home Meal Replacement and Healthcare.
Moulded Board is recyclable and compostable. It has a smooth printable surface, is moisture resistant, freezer-, microwave- and oven-safe. The raw materials used are natural and renewable cellulose fibres instead of non-renewable oil resources.
Moulded Board products are thinner and offer a superior, smooth exterior surface, significantly improving logo and advertising print quality. The technology makes it possible to form products with complicated shapes, from compartmental plates, clamshells and trays for the food industry to protective packaging for the electronics and pharmaceutical industries, with no risk of cracking or deformation. The high density of the fibre network, added to the natural advantages of fibres, results in a product that is smooth, rigid and resistant to moisture and grease. Products can be manufactured using a wide variety of virgin and recycled natural fibres.

Screen Free Sintered Tooling
The sintered metal tooling process: Integral to the PAKIT100™
PAKIT's sintered tools are screen-free, lower in cost than conventional tools and designed for fast change-over. This translates into added flexibility and cost savings for limited production runs.
PAKIT's full-scale tooling centre employs powerful CAD software and advanced milling equipment allowing the creation of new packaging to go from concept to production quickly, efficiently and economically.
The Newest Innovation in Fibre Based Packaging Equipment Technology
The Right Technology to Create a Sustainable Competitive Advantage
The PAKIT100™ was designed to produce sustainable packaging in a sustainable manner.
Energy Efficient: The PAKIT100 uses significantly less energy to dry than other fibre moulding processes.
Microwave Drying: The PAKIT100 machine is the first to successfully use a microwave dryer. This all electric process allows for the use of renewable energy sources where available.
“Closed Loop” Water Cycle: The PAKIT100 can be configured to reuse and recover water from the forming tank and the condensed steam from the dryer.
Locally Sourced Raw Materials: The PAKIT100 can successfully use all types of natural cellulose fibres (virgin or recycled), which means that locally available raw materials can be used. This includes fibrous by-products from agricultural production (e.g. bagasse, kenaf, palm, etc.) that would otherwise be burned or land-filled. |
