Key
points of the Fraunhofer Institute of Material and Beam Technology (FhG-IWS)
in Dresden, Germany, for this exhibition are functional coatings (wear
resistance, improved tribological properties, tailored electrical properties
and others) prepared by thermal spraying of hardmetals, ceramics and metals,
as well as laser build-up welding and plasma transferred arc welding.
Intensive research work is focused on the interaction of materials and
processes in order to tailor optimized coating solutions for the customer.
