The Research, Education and Training Group (RET) of the EPMA is now organising the ‘PM Thesis Competition 2008’, sponsored by Höganäs AB, for theses on powder metallurgy at both Diploma (Masters) and Doctorate (PhD) levels.
The aim of this competition is to develop interest in and promote powder metallurgy among young scientists at European academic establishments, and to encourage research at under-graduate and post-graduate levels.

The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) is very pleased to announce the launch of their ‘Powder Metallurgy Thesis Competition 2008' , sponsored by Höganäs AB of Sweden. Theses on powder metallurgy at both Diploma/Masters and Doctorate/PhD levels are eligible for this highly successful biennial event, which aims to promote and develop an interest in powder metallurgy among young scientists at European academic establishments and to encourage research at under-graduate and post-graduate levels.

The winners of the PM Thesis Competition 2008 will receive their prizes at the Opening Plenary Session of the Euro PM2008 Congress & Exhibition to be held in Mannheim, Germany from 2 th September to 1st October. Each winner will receive a cheque for: €750 in the Diploma/Masters category and €1000 in the Doctorate/PhD category. During the prize giving both winners will have the opportunity to give a short presentation on their thesis topics. In addition, they will also be given FREE registration to the Euro PM 2008 Congress and be invited to contribute an article for the EPMA official technical journal, ‘Powder Metallurgy'. The winners will be promoted on the EPMA website: www.epma.com and will be given extensive press coverage.

The subject of the thesis must be capable of being classified under the topic: ‘Powder Metallurgy' and have been accepted or approved by the applicant's teaching establishment during the past three years. Entry is free and is open to nationals of any European state.



The deadline for receiving entries is 25th April 2008
