KIC-EIT Raw Material and the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) are collaborating on a new training course to help support and develop the powder metallurgy sector, named PM Life. PM Life is a new training programme, covering 5 key areas of powder metallurgy: Additive Manufacturing, Hot Isostatic Pressing, Metal Injection Moulding, Powder and Hard Materials and Press & Sinter.

The 5 week long courses, delivered across Europe from Sweden to Spain and from Coventry-UK to Dresden, have been developed to show participants about the varied and amazing career opportunities the powder metallurgy (PM) sector can provide. Each week of study will see the participants comprehensively learn about specific industry sectors in lecture style presentations, group exercises, with an examination at the end of the training week. Additional to the programme is the ability to put theory into practise with the range of PM Life internships. The 3-week long internships, which will take place between July and December 2018 in either a factory or university location, will help develop the students understanding of working environments and provide them with some practical experience.

‘This is a great opportunity for degree students who have recently graduated, or for people who are considering a career change also for new employee, to learn more about the powder metal process and the different facets the PM industry can offer’ explained Dr Lionel Aboussouan, EPMA’s Executive Director. He went onto add ‘The entire PM Life Lifelong learning in powder metallurgy training courses run for 5 weeks, covering 5 PM industry areas, allowing students to experience all areas of the industry, in the hope that in the future they consider becoming part of the PM industry, through joining one of the many companies within the sector.’

The 5 weeks of training can be purchased all at once, to be taken within 2018, or on a week-by-week basis by selecting the course that is most appropriate for your educational needs. PM Life also offers the options to pick modules over the next few years if the 2018 dates are not suitable. An EPMA certificate is provided to each successful participant who passes the end of week exams.

To register for all 5 courses, or to book on a specific week of training, please go to www.pmlifetraining.com for further details, including specific course dates and eligibility criteria. Places will be limited, so an early registration is encouraged, as the booking deadline for all 2018 courses is 15 March 2018 via the website.
