The Euro PM2017 Congress & Exhibition is taking shape to become one of the largest PM events in 2017, attracting a large number of technical and industrial participants. Attendees will not only be able to visit the exhibition, representing all areas of the PM supply chain, they will also be able to attend technical sessions, showcasing over 200 technical papers covering the entire PM industry. This year we have also extended the exhibition opening hours until 18.00 on Wednesday 4 October.

Opening Plenary Session
The opening plenary session starts at 09.30 on Monday 2 October and will contain a review of the PM industry presented by EPMA’s President Mr Philippe Gundermann, followed by a plenary presentation by Eng. Massimo Giannozzi, GE Oil & Gas Italy, which will include a presentation on ‘Powder Metallurgy at GE Oil & Gas: Advanced Manufacturing for a Smart Factory’. Eng Giannozzi will describe the PM technology in use at GE Oil & Gas and the development process enabling the components serial production and give an overview of the future challenges and needs in terms of engineering expertise, material science, equipment capability, including also the effort to address cost and lead time reduction.
The plenary session will also include the presentation of the following EPMA Awards:

Delegates who attend the event can benefit from an after-hours social programme that will enable networking opportunities. Starting with the Welcome Reception (sponsored by Höganäs Sweden AB, Sweden) taking place on Sunday evening at the MiCo, which will provide a suitable location for exhibitors and delegates to catch up over some light refreshments, before exploring the sights of Milan over the course of the event.
Tuesday evening is a chance to unwind and experience some hospitality in the exhibition area with the ever-popular Poster Networking Evening. Running from 18.00 – 19.00, the Poster Authors invite delegates and exhibition visitors alike to join them for an hour of networking, before enjoying an evening at leisure in the centre of the city.
Wednesday evening is the social highlight of the Euro PM2017 programme with the Congress Dinner (Congress Dinner Drinks sponsored by Linde AG, Germany) at the Alfa Romeo Museum. The Congress Dinner will include a historical tour of the Alfa Romeo cars that have shaped one of Italy’s more famous sports cars brands, including a 4D ride in some of Alfa’s more well-known sports cars, before enjoying an evening’s dining and networking with friends old and new.
Special Interest Seminars (SIS)
In a change to previous years, the SIS will be distributed throughout the programme, enabling delegates to participate in more than one:
- Diamond and Superhard Materials, Manufacturing and Applications (Monday)
- Thermal Post Treatment for AM parts (Tuesday)
- Industrialisation of Powder Metal Process Simulation (Tuesday)
- Developments in Metals AM – Materials and Powder Handling (Wednesday)

Factory & Social Tours
An array of factory and social tours have been organised on Thursday to enable participants to experience Milan’s industrial influence, including tours to Bodycote; FILMS; Politecnico di Milano; Pometon Powder and TAG.
Social/Spouse tours have also been put together to enable participants to make the most of their time in Milan, including Segway tours, guided city walks and a trip to Lake Como.
