Preparation of Ti based Solid-Solution Powder

Abstract

Ti based solid-solution powders with various compositions were prepared by high-energy milling and carbothermal reduction. In the case of x ? 0.7 in (Tix,W1-x)(CN), complete solid-solution phase was not made due to the solubility limit of W in (Ti,W)(CN) phase. The cermets produced from the powders with WC phase had the microstructure with core/rim structure because dissolution rates of (Ti,W)(CN) and WC were different.
