Obtaining of Ultra dispersed Powders of Hard-melting Compounds

Abstract

Increasing interest of science is the study of possibility to obtain composites that can be used in chemical, radio electronics, machine-building and aviation industries. The specific attention is towards the materials which contain hard melting compounds of borides, carbides, nitrides, silicides, also their combination and their compounds with oxygen. The main goal of the work was obtaining ultra dispersed powders at recovery stage from the following composites: BN, B4C, BxNyCz, SiC, TiB2, SiC-Al2O3 by Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS). The efficiency and competitiveness of materials obtained by energy saving SHS technology is provoked by the use of cheap raw materials and simple equipment, compared to the traditional methods for obtaining analogue materials. The technological bases for production ultra dispersed powder compounds has been elaborated, which have particular role and find wide application in industry because of the unique complex of properties, such as hardness, thermal stability, abrasive wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
