Abstract

An investigation is made to study a secondary method for monitoring temperature within a powder metal sintering furnace. The new method should reduce the dependence on traveling thermocouple techniques that interrupt the production cycle, are labor intensive and costly. Analysis of an Iron-copper alloy is made to gauge the success of sintering a part to achieve proper diffusion of copper, good strength, and micro structure.
