Applications of powder metallurgy at working bodies of the railway machines

Abstract

Metal powders and powder metallurgy represent a great potential for technologies of construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure regarding the mechanical operations (profiling, tamping or cleaning of the ballast/ crushed stone). Many areas of working bodies (tamping tools, excavator chain, plows for ballast/ crushed stone) of railway machines are loaded to high efforts by abrasive wear, crushing, shock etc. being suitable for powder metallurgy applications. The object of this paper refers to powder metallurgy applications including research and applied studies on railway machines or to the working place. Are analyzed phenomena associated with these applications and their influence on technical solutions used. Composite materials based sintered metal carbide, constructive and functional geometries of active elements and assembly solutions are proposed.
