Electric Pulse Sintering Of Permeable Materials With An Anisotropic Structure From The Titanium Alloy Powders

The study is to show a method of producing permeable materials with an anisotropic structure by isostatic elastic compression and high voltage electrical discharge through the powder of titanium. The study shows the structure of such materials and test results on strength, porosity and permeability of the materials. Based on the statistical processing of the test results on strength, porosity and permeability of the produced materials, the study presents the relation of these parameters on the phase ratio of the spherical to spongy powder particles in the studied metal charge. It has been discovered that gradual increase from 0 to 80 mass% of the amount of spherical particles in the titanium metal charge allows decreasing porosity by 13 to 14% while the same time increasing mean pore size by a factor of 2.3 to 2.4, and increasing the permeability coefficient by a factor of 5 to 6.
