A New Name Reflecting the Evolution of Europe’s Leading Powder-Based Materials Congress
The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) is pleased to announce that its flagship annual congress, Euro PM, will be renamed Euro AM/PM from 2027 onwards. Under the new tagline,“Where Material Science Meets Innovation”, the congress further strengthens its position as Europe’s leading event for powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, and advanced materials technologies. The new name reflects the growing importance of Additive Manufacturing within the congress and the evolving landscape of powder-based manufacturing.
Responding to Industry Evolution
Since its creation, Euro PM has served as the leading European forum for powder metallurgy research, development, and industrial applications. At the same time, additive manufacturing technologies have experienced remarkable growth, bringing new materials, processes, and stakeholders into the community. AM technologies such as LPBF, EBM, Metal Binder Jetting, DED, and Cold Spray, together with an expanding range of metallic powder materials such as aluminium, titanium, nickel , cobalt, copper base alloys and steels have significantly broadened the scope of the congress and represent now more than half of paper submissions.
While additive manufacturing has become a central pillar of the event, many AM researchers and material engineers do not immediately associate EPMA and Euro PM with additive manufacturing activities. The new identity aims to address this challenge by providing clearer recognition for AM stakeholders while maintaining the strong heritage and reputation of powder metallurgy.
Preserving Heritage, Expanding Reach
The transition to Euro AM/PM is designed to:
• Increase the visibility of EPMA and strengthen communication within the European and international additive manufacturing community of researchers, technology providers and industrial users
• Foster material research & innovation in the very innovative field of additive manufacturing
• Reflect and strengthen the synergies that exist between powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing technologies.
Adeline Riou, President of EPMA, highlights : “After having initiated in 2013 the EuroAM working group within EPMA, I am very happy to announce the renaming of the annual EPMA Congress which reflects the increasing share of AM in the activities of EPMA. Besides, with its strong metallurgy / material science focus, the Congress is very complementary to existing AM events. It will also help fostering synergies between AM and powder metallurgy processes for the benefit of all, as it can be seen already between AM and HIP, MBJ and MIM or for topics such as digital design of alloys and parts, metal powder packaging and handling, HSSE etc.”
Looking Forward
Through this strategic evolution, EPMA aims to strengthen its engagement with the additive manufacturing community, attract new participants, and further establish Euro AM/PM – Where Material Science Meets Innovation as the leading European metallurgy event for researchers, engineers, technology providers, and industrial users shaping the future of powder-based manufacturing.
Euro AM/PM 2027 will take place in Florence Italy on Oct 10-13. Call for papers soon available on euroampm.com
