The following is an update from Eurometaux regarding measures to restore the competitiveness of European industry and safeguard the wider economy.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the letter to the European Council by sharing their logos. You’ll find the final version here: European metals letter EUCO October 2025

As you’ll see, we collected a total of 43 logos (including Eurometaux’s), which is an excellent result. The final letter has now been sent to President António Costa and his Cabinet, as well as to all 27 Ambassadors.

At this stage, we would like to ask you to also send the letter to the highest national authorities in your respective countries, either President or Prime Minister’s offices, to make sure our messages arrive at the leaders involved directly in the European Council discussion on competitiveness.

We have already seen a leaked first draft of the Conclusions, metals are mentioned, this reference needs to remain in the final adopted text, together with more specific language on the measures that need to be taken for ensuring our competitiveness.
