The Plansee Group, headquartered in Reutte, Austria, has announced it joined the UN Global Compact in December 2023, in a move said to underline the company’s commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
The UN Global Compact is an initiative of the United Nations. It requires companies to promote and implement ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, working conditions, environmental protection and anti-corruption.
“With this step, we are underlining our efforts in these areas in line with our code of conduct. We firmly believe that sustainable action is not only crucial for the environment and society, but also supports the long-term success of the company,” stated Karlheinz Wex, CEO of the Plansee Group.
The Plansee Group stated it goals within the framework of the UN Global Compact include:
- Environmental protection: Committed to sustainable activities and measures to minimise its CO₂ footprint and use resources efficiently
- Protection of human rights: Committed to protecting human rights, both within the organisation and along its supply chain
- Improving working conditions: Ensuring safe and fair working conditions that respect the dignity and rights of its employees
- Fighting corruption: Committed to integrity and transparency in order to fight corruption in all its forms
